aren't lies so easy?
A silver figure ghosted through the equally-silver mists of the valley, ignoring the drops of moisture that that her thick, flint-hued pelt picked up as it brushed against the dew-sprinkled grass. Lithium's pale eyes flitted around the landscape, analyzing everything: The steep cliffs that lined the valley's edge, good for a lookout perch [not that you could see much through the fog]; the lush [albeit wet] grass that carpeted the valley floor; the eternally-present fog, which was both unnerving and strangely calming; and the sky -- or rather lack thereof. All in all, this is a decent place to set up a pack, the she-wolf thought approvingly, her short tail sweeping from side to side in what as as close to a wag as the frosty creature could get. Yes, the fog is somewhat obscuring, but that could be to the pack's advantage...it would be great cover for ambushes and the like. Besides, with time, I'm sure my wolves would adapt to the weather conditions...
Pleased with her choice of territory, the gray-furred female raised her muzzle to the misty sky and howled a warning to all that lurked between the mountains: Join the pack, or die.
o o c || Ack, sorry about the shortness. XD;

((Sorry, I meant to post in this thread... Didn't realize... yeah ^^))
Beneath the mist among the tall ferns emerged a figure of steel blue and steel gray, which helped to blend in even more. Despite it being about mid-afternoon, sunlight was absent of the place that surrounded her. Nose to the ground she inhaled the sharp scents of the bright green grass that still seemed to grow despite there being no sunlight. This place of wonder, as one may call it, was odd and weirdly calming. She liked the vibe she got from the place, it was cool, calm, and oddly cold to a point. Silver fangs showed as she grinned at the thought.
Lifting her head once again, Asa moved on, continuing forward. Her paws stepped lightly upon the dense grass, barely making a sound, if at all. Her pace, a slow trot to help conserve her energy for what may lay ahead. Knowing she had crossed into the border of another's territory, she lifted her head and opened her maw. An eerie, low howl pierced through the wind. She knew the common laws and from the scent of the alpha that claimed this land, Asa could tell the alpha was female and strong. She thought it slightly odd that one would claim territory yet have few if any in the pack.
Asa had had her mind set on being alpha herself, yet she would settle for being beta. She knew she was worthy of the title, and even in her old pack she would not have been given position despite the alphas being her parents. She pushed such thoughts aside and focused on the matter at the present. Continuing her slow trot, she entered a meadow of sorts, the plants having created an almost perfect circle in which only grass inhabited. A meeting place of sorts, Asa thought as she slowed before finally stopping.
It would be wise to not enter further into the territory unless one was either passing through quickly or looking for a fight. She would not mind a fight, yet she was looking for a pack. Asa decided she would meet this alpha and see what this pack was all about. Maybe... Just maybe it would be the right pack for her...
Steel blue ears turned in the direction from which a sound had come from. Asa turned her whole body so she was facing whoever it was that was approaching. Her ears perked forward, steel blue and gray streaked feathers raised slightly as they usually were, her somewhat long tail held neutrally yet not submissively, and her stance and body language also showed no hostility yet the power within her body could not be hidden as she stood straight. The most eerie detail of all was Asa's eyes, they were completely silver, no pupil or sclera just pure silver, and if one looked into them long enough it seemed as if they were formed of liquid silver swirling within their depths; contrasting sharply within her steel blue face and making her gaze look intense. Asa waited calmly for the alpha to arrive.

+ + A silent phantom glided through the feathery mists of the valley dawn, summoned by an ancient call: That of a loner on unfamiliar territory. Dewdrops clung to Lithium's flint-gray fur, shimmering like liquid crystals, as she loped through the tall, lush grasses of her territory, drawn onward by the eerie song that entwined itself with the mist. The silver alpha continued in this fashion for quite a time, following the wavering, scattered notes as if they were droplets of a wounded enemy's blood, until she came across what she'd been searching for: The stranger.
+ + Well, she passed the first test, Lithium admitted to herself, gazing down at the slate-blue stranger who had boldly ventured into unknown territory. Growing tired of merely observing the enigmatic newcomer, the alpha got to her feet [until that moment she had been resting in a cluster of gnarled pines, her spindly ebony-splashed legs burning from the journey across the vast territory,] and loped toward the loner, her pale eyes gleaming with a strange mix of curiosity, assertiveness and caged respect.
+ + "Halt, loner," Lithium called when she was within a few feet of the new wolf [whom, she noted with approval, had whirled to meet her]. The silver she-wolf's eyes flickered over the stranger's blueish body, taking in her neutral stance as well as her obvious strength. Taking a step forward and raising her tail in a gesture of dominance, the alpha briskly asked, "What exactly are you doing on Pa'chuua land?"

Asa realized that the alpha had been watching her for a little while. She had sensed that she was being watched and could understand the alpha's need to observe intruders before showing herself, even if Asa did not show any hostility and had announced her presence. Asa watched calmly as the alpha loped towards her. Although she appeared outwardly calm, she was prepared to either dodge an attack or lunge forward if the female did not slow as she approached Asa. Within unknown territory and unknown wolves, one should always be prepared for the worst of a situation.
Silver orbs flickered over the silver, raven feathered alpha. By the look and disposition of the female, Asa could tell it would take quite a fight to take her down, if she could be. She liked that, a strong alpha lead a strong pack.
Asa remained motionless as the alpha took a step forward and claimed dominance. She was not intimidated, yet she lowered her muzzle in a nod of acknowledgment and respect. Asa had not come to fight for claim of a land.
"Exactly what you know I am doing in Pa'chuua land. I have come seeking a position within your pack, more importantly your second in command; beta." Asa stated calmly and steadily. She knew what she wanted and she would go after it. If not this pack than another. She could prove her worth and show that she would be an asset to the pack. The name is Asa. She added with another tip of her muzzle returning her gaze to the alpha.
((Sorry, my muse seems to have buried itself 6 feet under... I don't know how you want to proceed here but you could have Asa do a couple of different things to prove herself... Like scout the other lands and packs or if you just decide to accept her as your beta... *shrugs* Up to you...))

"Exactly what you know I am doing in Pa'chuua land. I have come seeking a position within your pack, more importantly your second in command; beta."
+ + "Beta?" Lithium flicked a black-tipped ear pensively as she considered the newcomer's offer. She's obviously strong...however, is she clever? I've seen nothing to suggest otherwise, but still...it would be foolish on my part to give her such a high-ranking position without evaluating her competence. Her mind made up, the silver alpha prepared to deliver her verdict, but paused when she saw the slate-blue newcomer begin to speak.
The name is Asa.
+ + "Well then, Asa," Lithium replied briskly, "I have a task for you. You may know that a territory north of here has been claimed --" Lithium flicked her silver brush of a tail in the general vicinity of Kin Fell -- "by a male...Neptune. I'd like you to scout out the area and see if he's managed to gather a pack. Assuming that you are successful, you'll be given the position of beta."

Silver orbs seemed to brighten as the alpha gave Asa her verdict. The corners of her muzzle lifted slightly in a grin, well a ghost of one anyways. She turned her head following the general direction in which the alpha had pointed with her tail. She thought a moment, calculating. Depending on the distance and any problems she may encounter will decide on how fast she can get back. Scouting would be no problem for her, even if a fight did break out. If things went according to plan, there would be no need for fighting. The alpha did not specify what 'scouting' meant, so that left her to decide on how to go about it.
Silver orbs turned back to gaze at the silver hued alpha. "Depending on the distance, I should be back no later than sun high tomorrow." Asa stated, giving her a day to complete her scouting mission. She was about to turn in the direction the alpha had stated when she thought of something.
Turning back, silver orbs thoughtful. "On my way here I heard another howl of claim in the distance. Given I had come from the opposite direction in which you indicated this other alpha claims territory, there is another which has claim in the lands surrounding your territory." She added as a second thought. This alpha may already know that, maybe after she scouts this territory, Asa will scout the other as well. It seems this alpha is not the only one who wishes to know the numbers of the packs that surrounds them.
She gazed in the direction in which she had to travel, without turning her head she asked. "The name of the alpha of the Pa'chuua Pack would be?"

"Depending on the distance, I should be back no later than sun high tomorrow."
+ + Lithium joined Asa in gazing at the neighboring territory, with its high spires of stone; huge, gnarled pines; and rugged mountain trails. "That sounds reasonable," the alpha replied coolly, watching as her soon-to-be-beta's silver eyes glowed with anticipation.
"On my way here I heard another howl of claim in the distance. Given I had come from the opposite direction in which you indicated this other alpha claims territory, there is another which has claim in the lands surrounding your territory."
+ + "Yes, I know that; I've met the other pack's alpha." The slate-gray alpha paused for a minute, and then added, "Did you happen to hear two wolves while you were passing by? As I've said, I've met the alpha, but she's too...'delicate' to rule alone." Lithium's brow furrowed slightly as she mulled over the consequences of a shared rule. There would be less power allotted to each leader, but the pack'd be able to be directed from two places at once...in battle, that'd give us quite the disadvantage. I suppose we'll need to find a way to become allies.
"The name of the alpha of the Pa'chuua Pack would be?"
+ + "I apologize," Lithium replied, her voice as silky as ever [however, a ripple of her onyx-black feathers revealed that, contrary to what her tone suggested, she was ashamed for forgetting such a basic courtesy]. "My name is Lithium."

Silver orbs narrowed slightly as she gazed in the distance, detailing out the rough trials and the small mountain in which the trails led to. The traveling would be slightly harder than normal with large spires of rock and rough trails. Asa was not worried so much about the traveling than about how much she would have to rest.
"Did you happen to hear two wolves while you were passing by? As I've said, I've met the alpha, but she's too...'delicate' to rule alone."
The fur between her eyes furrowed slightly as she thought. "It was a male that I heard, not a female." Asa tried to think back to when she had heard that first howl. She had been running when she slowed to a trot, one ear perked in the direction of the howl listening to its message. She had been heading North, and was unconcerned nor did she want the trouble of a male. The reason she had continued in the direction she had.
The fur between her eyes straightened as she remembered, she glanced sideways to look at the alphess next to her. "Now that you mention it, after that first howl there was a much quieter yelp though at the time I payed no attention to it. The first howl had a deeper tone to it and held some strength." Her muzzle dipped in a nod, "Your too 'delicate' alpha joined another. I would say it is the male you would need to worry about."
Asa took a step forward to the North, preparing to leave. The alpha could think on her words and worry about the pair of alphas while she went to go scout the pack to the North. Silver orbs looked back as the alpha introduced herself. She noted the irritated ripple of raven hued feathers as the alpha apologized.
"Lithium..." Asa said as if testing out the name, she had never heard of such a name. "It suites you well." Asa added and she meant it in a good way. It was a strong name and it was well suited to the alpha of such a cool and odd land in which little to no sun shown and still it prospered. With a half grin, she nodded her head. "I shall return shortly, Lithium."
With that, Asa turned to the North and bounded out of the meadow.
-Exit Asa
