What a beautiful day, Collapse mused.
The timber was perched on a large stone jutting out from the ground. It towered above all others; it was the place where he belonged. A bit off in the distance, at the very top of this hill, there was a temple. It was the perfect shelter for his pack. With a smile he imagined him and his wolves sleeping there, together, in peace. That was all he wanted, really. Friends and peace; it was all that mattered to him.
Of course, a mate mattered, too. Having pups of his own with a she-wolf who loved him sounded very pleasant indeed. However, he wasn't going to rush it; it was more important to maintain his territory and keep intruders away.
And so, with his muzzle lifted to the heavens quite proudly, the festive timber let out a laconic howl. The howl was out of pure pride, and wasn't altogether necessary. Why was he proud? He was a leader. Collapse was the eminence of his pack; a luminary to them. He wasn't just an adherent wolf searching for a purpose in a pack. He had one.
Collapse, content with the pleasant day, abruptly slid his paws out from under him and, in good control, fell. This was exactly what he intended to do, though. Now he was laying down on the stone, gazing over his hill and at the curious temple. This place is odd, he thought amusedly.

Great. Another day, another starvation dilemma to face.
Midnight snarled quietly to herself as she trudged forward heavily. Her thin coat was ruffled and dull, her tail low to the ground, and her head was lowered. Ears back, she padded forward, stomach growling quite loudly. Se was slightly emaciated, and the fact that she was in unfamiliar territory didn't help to solve her food issue. But she wouldn't give up. She couldn't give up, or she'd end up dying of starvation.
But even though she wasn't very trusting towards strangers, Midnight still wanted a friend. She had to admit that it was awfully lonely to be traveling alone with no one at her side that she could talk with. Raising her head, her odd eyes gleaming, she looked to the sky. It was clear, a few scattered clouds rolling lazily along. Then, something caught her attention. It was what looked like a giant rock placed on top of a big hill. Judging by the distance, she declared that it would take only a few hours hike to reach it.
Her ears perked up. A distant howl told her she wasn't alone. Snarling, Midnight carefully crept forward, in case any strangers were up ahead, and were ready to attack. Sniffing, she couldn't detect any other scents, even though the wind was blowing against her face. Thinking quickly, the she-wolf decided to keep going ahead. She quickened her pace, thinking about the opportunity of getting a potential ally.

The gentle breeze ruffled a few flowers that grew here and there. The aroma and scents of flowers filled my nose. I let out a deep breath and lifted my head. A temple sat on the top of a hill. It was beautiful. Scattered pieces of stone were also on the hill, but I took no notice of them. I twitched my nose in wonder as a timber wolf perched himself on a large stone. I stepped back into the shadows of the temple and watched. I had thought about claiming this land, I really wanted to; but I wasn't sure. I wasn't good at punishing others, even though I easily could, and if they made fun of their alpha, they would have to be punished. I let out a sigh. I thought over my possibilities. Not a lot. I could run away, let this wolf claim the land, or I could claim this for myself and--I stopped thinking for a moment as the wolf raised his maw to the sky. I snarled, but so that only I could hear it. After his little, "moment of glory", he looked so proud. Rage bit me in the face.
For a moment I completely forgot everything Mahalo had taught me. I stepped out of the shadows and then thought of a plan. If this plan didn't work, well then I would fight him for this place. I needed a home, and I needed respect. I trotted over to the male. I opened my maw to spout my lie, see if it would fool him, but I had known all along it wouldn't work. So instead I said, Excuse me. I was about to claim this territory for myself. If you want it, you'll have to fight me for it. I put authority in my voice. I half-expected him to say, Oh, hey, your the gay wolf, right? but I twitched my ear and passed the thought away. Gay wolf, or no, I could put up a pretty good fight. I didn't bare my fangs or snarl, though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not viscous. I just want this territory. I really need a home. I said honestly.
I thought about something for a moment before quickly adding, My name is Demon. Will you accept me into your pack if I lose? Either way, I wanted to live here. I lowered my head so that it was just under his to show him I wouldn't be any trouble if I lost. Then, I raised it back up above his to show I still wanted to claim this land for myself. My lip almost curled into a snarl, it was a habit around any stranger, but I gritted my fangs instead; I didn't want him getting the wrong idea.
A gentle breeze blew back the fur on my cheeks and I caught a female scent on it. Looks like we've got company.. I muttered. I wasn't about to let that get in the way of my challenge though, if he didn't accept my challenge then I would be the alpha. It was as simple as that. By way of scent, I noticed that the wolfess began picking up her pace. She had spotted him, but since I was behind him, I was clearly out of sight from where she most likely stood. I didn't look her way, though, I wasn't interested in her. I wasn't interested in most wolfess', but I wasn't interested in this wolf as I usually am in most wolvens. I haven't been that way since Mahalo, and I don't plan on finding a replacement. Even though Mahalo didn't know that I was gay. I shrugged and waited for the wolven in from of me to respond.
words: 623 muse: crappy. it'll get better though, hopefully. status: finished. comments: yes, he's gay xD but I'm not. lol anyhow, enjoy =3 [if I win, I want the pack to be named: Valhalla]
