The white shaggy wolf trotted through empty areas as he progressed on his way. His pick tongue hanging lazily out of his grayish muzzle. Matchstick had wandered in a place which he knew nothing about - whether others roamed here or not, he was about to find out. Matchstick traveled alone, that was always how it had been. What it had to be, and that was the end of it. The wolf wasn't completely sure what he was doing here, all he knew was that this was a good place to maybe rest up before he continued on his long journey once more. Matchstick was a loner and had no one else beside him, following him as he went on his ways. He wasn't horrid, and he wasn't completely nice, Matchstick preferred to stay in the middle of the two - he didn't care to pick sides no matter how many times certain wolves had tried to get him to come and join their forces. The large wolf was not interested in all the mess and business these creatures spoke about, he had bigger troubles. Matchstick was lost in this world, he didn't know what to do. All he knew was that he had to find something, he just didn't know what it was. The white creature couldn't risk being pulled off this path he was taking and every thought linked back to the fact that he was looking for something, but he didn't know what it was. Matchstick was curious as to what it was, but he had decided that he would know exactly what he was looking for when he found it. And that was that.
It was strange that the environment was appearing to fade away, vegetation disappearing as the wolf trotted further onward. The dirt beneath his feet was beginning to fade into fine sand and the view around him was changing rather dramatically. It wasn't long before the wolf was surrounded by desert instead of long grass like before. He sighed, confused as to where exactly he was and then frustrated at that confusion. Matchstick then froze, his dark amber eyes spotting what appeared to be a coiled snake sun bathing. The wolf wondered what exactly that creature was doing right in the middle of his path, but asking it to move probably wasn't the best bet. So the wolf quickly dodged around it, giving it a wide birth encase it had been disturbed in the process. Matchstick didn't exactly get on with snakes. In fact, he didn't get on with anything that tried to kill him. But that probably wasn't too surprising. He chuckled to himself over this little inside joke before trotting onward. Matchstick didn't exactly have a sense of direction in that sense, and so directing himself wasn't something that particularly came naturally to him. Instead the wolf frowned to himself, noticing yet another coiled creature basking in the sun. He kept out of it's way, spotting a small rock risen from the sand. The timber wolf bounded toward it - neatly leaping on top of it as he grew close enough and planted his rear on it's surface.
There the wolf sat, staring out onto a sea of sand. Life appeared to be scarce here, he could only see a few snakes moving and most of them were hard to spot - blending into the sand easily. Matchstick wondered if he would even spot another being here, let alone speak to them. He sighed once more, moving so he was lying down, his two front paws hanging over the edge of the rock white his head rested upon his snow white legs. If their was another animal around here, the good news was that they would be able to spot him easily. The bad news was, he would probably have to wait some time.

Wounded, Artemis began limping into the desert. Why she was coming here, was beyond her. But strangely the heat felt soothing to her and her wounds. Her shoulder had a gash. The blood had caked her ivory fur. She was extremely engraged at this point. Why she had to fight for her land which was rightfully hers in the beginning , seeing as she'd claimed it before that black bitch, Artemis began mentally rolling off ways of which she imagined Nocte falling off the face of the planet. Her paws sank into the tawny colored sand as she moved. Thankfully, the bleeding had stopped and she dropped to her side, rolling in the sand.
Her mother had taught her that the sand acted like a cordorizer and helped stopped the bleeding. Now her alabaster fur was caked with the sand, but she didn't care one snit. Her lower jaw dropped, salmon pink tongue lolling out and resting over her bottom two canines as she panted. Above her the sun blazed down from behind a few fluffy white clouds. While it was hot here, it wasn't that hot where it was intolerable. Her long tail hung down between her back legs as she walked, nursing her left shoulder.
As she neared one spot, the wind brought the scent of a male wolf. Her amber orbs blinked and she spied another ivory wolf much like herself. She headed toward him and stopped a respectable distance from him, letting her haunches plant into a sitting position, tail wrapping around her back legs, twitching on occasion. Forelegs came around to the front of her chest, though rather painfully. Artemis put all her weight on her right foreleg, lifting her left paw in the air. She regarded him and spoke.
"Hello. I'm Artemis. Whats your name?" Her tone was waterstrained and husky as she kept both ears still flattened out in opposite directions as she waited for the male to respond. It was the first time she'd seen a white wolf like herself and the pain shot through her shoulder and up her spine, hitting her skull causing flashes of lights to go off. Feeling nausesous, Artemis laid down, her forelegs stretching out in front of her. She lowered her head and let her muzzle rest between her forepaws as she waited for the male to speak.

Matchstick could feel the sun beating down on his back, warming his fur as it did so. It was a nice warmth though, not too warm at all but something that made Matchstick appreciate being outside on a day like this, out in the desert. His jaws stretched in a yawn and as they did, the male wolf closed his eyes. He did not sleep, more dozed. The white wolf's ears where still pricked, ready to awake the male from his doze if and when something came along. Matchstick hated being surprised, the element of surprise was a cruel thing anyway. Both cruel and unfair of course, also this animal did not particularly want to be ambushed by either snakes that were sunbathing just like himself, or wandering wolves. He of course had no idea what fate was to place upon him, he didn't really consider what was to come and would never have guessed it really. Matchstick believed that the desert was deserted for now, and when someone ventured through it they would stay away from the male wolf. Of course, he didn't know this - for all he knew the wolf would see him as the first sign of civilization. After all, he guessed someone could get lost in this great field of sand. It wasn't exactly difficult he guessed, after all every inch of this place looked exactly the same.
But Matchstick didn't exactly think about that, in fact he didn't really think about anything. His mind seemed blank as he dozed off in the sun, enjoying the feeling of the warm sun beating down on his body. A small smile switched on his lips as his vision was in blackness. Matchstick wasn't sure how long he lay there, on the rock with the feeling of the sun on his back. But he did know he had drifted off to sleep for the next thing he knew the sound of someone trudging through the sand woke him and his eyes snapped open. The white wolf's head lifted up and he spotted the figure approaching. Immediately his senses snapped to attention and his nose breathed in the scent of the approaching creature. He found out quickly enough that the animal approaching was indeed a wolf, one of the female gender. It appeared that she was also a timber wolf, like himself. It was either that or an archangel anyway, and she certainly wasn't of that breed. Matchstick watched the figure curiously as it ventured further and further. His jaw dragged itself open in a yawn but he still paid attention to the stranger, curiosity overpowering any defensive emotions.
He blinked as the creature grew closer, for the fact was her coat color was exactly the same as his. She two was a white wolf, a color that he rarely saw on a creature like himself. She was probably larger than himself, but only by a little as she two appeared to be of average height and shape. Lastly, Matchstick saw the females eyes sparkling as they collided with the rays of light, shinning a brilliant amber. The wolf watched her venture closer and closer to him, and noticed the limb in her gait. Then he saw it, the blood from her shoulder as she tried to nurse it. He blinked, stunned at the wound and wondered what exactly had happened to her to make that wound as it was. Matchstick barely heard her words as she introduced herself, he caught them just about but all the time his mind was wondering if she was in a fit state to be wandering around a desert. Plus, she was coated in sand. "are you alright? ... your bleeding." well done for stating the obvious. The thought popped into his mind as soon as the words where out, but Matchstick was just concerned about the female who had named herself Artemis. He found it strange that the femme could just walk up, introduce herself and ask a question in such a casual way like that when her shoulder was nearly caked in blood. "i'm matchstick." The wolf said with a slight shake of his head, scolding himself for not answering the question first off. But really, he was more concerned about the female's wound than the exchange of names between the two.
